The school started on 3rd July, 2006. The auspicious day of ‘satrarambh’started in presence of important dignitaries. It began with the sacred ‘hawan’ ceremony performed by then honourable GM of NTPC Mr. Vinod Sharma (project I) and GM (project II) Mr. S.K Dhar. Also present was Secretary, Bal Bharati Public School, Cdr. S. Bhattacharjee. However the school building was inaugurated on 23rd June by Mr. Shankar lingam then CMD,NTPC.But from the very beginning the curriculum was rich and progressive with the focus being on child-centric education with ample co- curricular activities for the all round development of a child.
The school started in a very humble way. There were 20 rooms available during that time. The school began with classes from I to VII with 60 students. There was a staff room, computer room, library, 7 classrooms and 1 science lab. But unfortunately there was no playground. However, the school has earned good reputation for quality education at an affordable fee structure and has now become a sought after school in Bilaspur.
Infrastructural facilities have further improved over the years .Ours is the first BBPS project school in collaboration with NTPC School amongst all other BBPS NTPC school to have an additional section coming up gradually every year.
The Library which started in a small room with only thousand books and two newspapers can now boast of a large library with a separate reading room with unique collection of books, newspapers and magazines.
The school is constantly putting forth sincere efforts to improve the teaching-learning process. To make learning a fun process for the students, the school aims at minimizing the usage of textbooks in the classrooms. In order to ensure this we have started educomp smart classes from nursery to class XII from session 2010-11. We are the first NTPC School across the country to start the smart classes.
The classrooms are equipped with LCD screens and computers. The school has installed effective learning modules/software developed by the professionals. The teachers can make effective use of these modules in the classroom to enhance the learning process.

Infrastructural facilities have further improved over the years. Now we have separate playgrounds for different sporting activities. Now there is a complete networking system in computers. Quality computer education is now imparted to equip the child for his competitive future.
